Have you been thinking of setting up a Facebook page for your business but just don’t know how to?
This post will help you set up your page in no time at all. Trust me when I say its not that difficult. If you’re not sure you want to be on Face book my post on why our business should be on Facebook.
Not tech savy? No worries, the process isn’t very technical, In fact Face Book has gone out of its way to make sure its straight forward with easy to follow instructions.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you start your face book campaign.
1. Create a Page
Go to Faceboom.com/pages and click create a page in the upper right hand corner
The next screen asks you to select a category from the following list;
- Local Business or Place
- Company, Organization, or Institution
- Brand or Product
- Artist, Band or Public Figure
- Cause or Community
2. Fill out Information
Once you select the category for your business, you can fill in the name, address and phone number. Check the box next to “I agree to Facebook Pages Terms” and click “Get Started.” You’ll see a Page that looks like this:
3. Add a photo
Upload a picture for your page. It can be a logo, a photo of a store or a photo of a person — whatever makes the most sense for building your brand.
The file needs to be smaller than 4MB, and it can be square or a vertical rectangle. Be sure to edit the thumbnail image that will show up next to posts and comments so that your image is not cropped or distorted in anyway.
4. Suggest your page to your friends
A good place to start getting “likes” for your page is your personal friends that are already on Face book. You need 25 likes on your page to be able to claim your vanity-URL.
Instead of your page having a bunch of random numbers you will be able to direct people to facebook.com/yourbusinessname
5. Import Contacts
Another way to get more likes is to import your email contacts. If you have a database of client emails, you can import them and Facebook will allow you to send them a personal invite to like your page.
If you don’t have a email list, I would strongly suggest you start building one. Example, you can join my newsletter list to get tips and strategies delivered directly to your inbox.
6. Start Writing Content
Now that you have a photo and have invited fans, you need to start writing content and engaging with your fans. Don’t be put off if you don’t gain alot of “likes’ immediately.
You have to update your page on a regular basis with interesting content that your fans will want to read.
But be careful not to spam your page with sales/marketing offers as this method of posting can quickly turn off your fans. Read my post on Social Media Best Practices for more information on what to post.
You should now have a basic Facebook page for your business, but remember that while having a page is great its not the end, you need to have a complete social media strategy with goals and objectives that direct how you will engage with your fans on social media sites such as Face Book.
